Tree Photography

One of my favorite things to shoot in nature are trees and sticks. Many people may think that this may be boring photography, yet I think that trees have interesting shape, and the textures are amazing to capture in photographs. Some trees are bent in a odd fashion, or if placed in a certain way with other trees can come to make a perfect photo. While searching through photography websites on the internet I found one sight that was dedicated to different types of trees, leaves, and bark. All of these photographs are from the photographer Tony Howell. Tony is a floral photographer, shooting flowers, landscape pictures, trees and bark pictures. He is a self taught photographer who took up the hobby when eighteen years old. When he first start shooting pictures he was given a Kodak Instamatic by his father, taking sunset and sunrise photos. After becoming older Howell upgraded his camera to a 39 megapixel medium format camera.

I really like this picture for the way the picture was taken from directly right above Howell. I like how he captures a main pattern with the tree trunks forming in sort of a circle, and then still in the background he was able to capture some clouds as well.

I really like the angle that the tree was shot at, it looks almost as though the tree curves straight up. Then the several jagged branches in the background of the picture help add an interesting point to the picture.

With these last two pictures I mainly like how the second to last one is full of pattern which is appealing to the eye, and then this last one is different, which also helps in catching your eye.
